We have wanted to bring you a wider selection in organic produce, but struggle with the time to pack each order and the perishable nature of produce. So...we have a plan! Produce boxes. We tried produce boxes once before with an outside company, but that didn't go over so well when they went out of business so we decided to give it a try on our own this time. With produce boxes we can offer you a greater assortment of produce and we can know (ok, hope!) that we will have many of you to share the bounty with us.
 
We hope it will encourage you to try a few different fruits and veggies. Variety is the spice of life!
 
Please return your box each week so that we can reuse them.
 
I buy produce weekly or semi-weekly and will buy with the specials in mind and what is in season so we can offer you the very most in your box each week. I will always buy Colorado produce first (the garlic and lettuce are local now) and as local as possible. I will work to vary the contents, but there will be some staple items that you'll receive each week. I will plan to update the website with the box contents each Friday since I will know on Friday what we will have for the following week.
 
If you can help us by committing to a box or two each week then I will know how much to order so we don't have waste. This will keep our produce nicer and save us all money. If you can't commit to a box that's OK too and you can still order whenever you want.
 
I'm putting together a recipe program so you will have some new recipes to try with your tasty produce!
 
Because produce is so perishable we have to institute a few guidelines.
  • You will need to provide a protective place for us to leave your produce. It will be packaged in a box, but that will not protect it from freezing (especially the lettuce and other leafy items). Your garage, a frig in your garage, your mudroom or inside your front/back door are all good places for us to leave your produce box. If you don't specify we will try to find a protective place. If we can't find a place we will leave it in your cooler (if there's room) and hope that you will soon retrieve it.
  • With weather conditions and the perishable nature of produce we cannot guarantee your produce after delivery. Sorry. Please know that we will do our best to protect your produce, but you will need to plan to retrieve it soon after delivery.
